Viva la pasta! Chef Bruno Serato was honored with the award as a CNN Hero. There’s no question about his dedication, as he continues to feed thousands of children to this day. Here at Caterina’s Club, we believe he’s just as good as Superman (if not better). Our team and Chef Bruno are serving over 25,025 warm nutritious meals to underprivileged children each week in Orange County and around the world. Now, who’s the real Superman?
“When the world sees images of America they think yeah they’ve got a lot of food, but they don’t think hunger is a serious problem for our children and it is. Chef Bruno Serato 7 nights week makes sure they don’t go to bed hungry.”
Jerry Seinfield, Comedian & Actor
It’s heartbreaking to see the effects of hunger, homelessness, and poverty in America. Many people don’t even realize how much of a problem hunger is and how many lives are affected daily. With America shown as a country of possibilities, we often forget that not everyone is blessed with an endless load of opportunities. There are many families in America living paycheck to paycheck and struggling to put food on the table for their family. In a land of opportunities, Chef Bruno understands families living below the poverty line need more than just an opportunity. They need an extra set of hands to put food on the table. And Chef Bruno was ready to be the hands AND the heart that puts the pasta on the table every night.
“Dear Chef, Thank you for all you’ve done for us and your dedication. We’re all very thankful that you take the time to feed us multiple times a week.”
Sincerely, Daniella J, Chelsea V, Jenny N, Evelyn N
Chef Bruno believed children who need the most help are “motel kids.” Motel kids are the children of families who typically live paycheck to paycheck with extremely poor living conditions. It’s not safe for children to play outside when living at a motel because of the bad environment. It’s hard enough for single moms, dads, and low-income families to say no to their kids when they want to play outside and then, not being able to provide a healthy meal every night is unbearable. Chef Bruno wanted to help create a safer and healthier environment for these families, so they don’t have to keep saying no to their children.
“We’re always thrilled to help Bruno and the kids. I mean, how could you not help kids who are hungry and want to eat? And this year will be a 1,000 kids that Bruno helps feed every night.”
Bill Handel, Radio Talk Show Host KFI AM 640
Now, Chef Bruno and Caterina’s Club is helping break the cycle that comes with living paycheck to paycheck and the motel life. At Caterina’s Club we want to help families get back on their feet and give their children a healthy life that they wouldn’t have been able to afford on their own. To date, Chef Bruno has served over 3 MILLION MEALS! Even with those number of meals under our belts, we want to help more and more families, and ultimately, impact the cycle of poverty, homelessness, and hunger. To help support our mission to break the cycle, join us at our 14th Annual Red Carpet Gala or donate by clicking here. We hope to see you there!
